This is my TEDx talk "Building Up the Wiradyuri Nation through Digital Media"
Over 2 weeks I attended the Transgrid Discovery Hub as one of the workshop presenters for their Wiradyuri Education Module. I spoke with the youth from all the schools who attended about my work creating animations and films with Wiradyuri language and culture at the centre. Then I demonstrated one of the methods I use with my work - using facial capture to animate a 3D model's face.
This 3 day Animation and Filmmaking Workshop was funded by a grant provided by Aboriginal Affairs as part of the L&D LALC's Kin Country and People program of events for 2025
Over the 3 days I showed the youth how to plan out and edit a short film using software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Unreal Engine. We used an artwork purchased from Spotlight to show them how it's possible to move an artwork around, and then I taught them skills and methods on how to replicate this with their own artworks.
During this short, 3-hour workshop, I worked with local community members on how to quickly shoot some film around Wollundry Lagoon, record some basic voice-over, and edit it together in Adobe Premiere Pro.
This 3 day Animation and Filmmaking Workshop was funded by a grant provided by Regional NSW's Office for Regional Youth.

During Artstate 2020, being held in Wagga Wagga this year, myself, Andrew Hagan (lecturer in Animation and Visual Effects at Charles Sturt University), and Professor Eleanor Gates-Stuart (Professor of Creative Industries at Charles Sturt University) will be presenting a panel on "Multi-disciplinary Co-Creation: Combining Creative Arts & Science".
Our panel will be discussing using current technology, such as Extended Reality and Unreal Engine 4, to create projects with multi-disciplinary teams. Topics we will include will be my current work with my Bachelor of Science (Honours), my cultural projects with the local Wiradyuri community and how technology can help with social science projects, and the projects that Andrew and Eleanor have been working on as well.
